Dear CSCNT Community,
For almost 18 years, I have been absolutely honored to serve our Cancer Support Community North Texas family. At the end of this year, I will be retiring from my role as Chief Executive Officer.
When I first joined this organization, I never imagined the incredible journey that lay ahead! Over the years we’ve celebrated milestones, weathered challenges, grieved losses, and shared countless moments of hope, healing and joy. I have seen firsthand the power of community and have marveled at the resilience that exists within our community.
CSCNT has grown and evolved in extraordinary ways. We relocated from our first clubhouse on Oak Lawn in Dallas that opened its doors as Gilda’s Club North Texas to a new home on Walnut Hill. Our name changed to Cancer Support Community North Texas. We expanded services to Collin and Tarrant County, and most recently, have embarked on yet another new chapter, relocating to our welcoming new home on Park Central Drive. Through every change, one thing has remained constant: our commitment to ensuring that no one faces cancer alone and that we can be there for you.
Like many of you, I personally experienced the twists and turns that cancer brings. During my cancer diagnosis and treatment, I found myself relying on the same compassion, understanding, and support that CSCNT offers every day. Walking the journey alongside so many of you deepened my appreciation for our community and reinforced my belief in the life-changing power of our mission. CSCNT is so much more than just a building or a program. We are a family, a community, and the place to go when cancer comes uninvited into your life.
While my decision to retire comes with some mixed emotions, I leave happily, knowing that our organization is stronger than ever and well-positioned for the future. The Board of Directors and I have spent several years thoughtfully preparing for this leadership transition, and I am thrilled to share that Chad Black will become CSCNT’s next Chief Executive Officer.
Many of you already know Chad through his work as our Development Director over the past year and a half. He has a deep commitment to our mission, a genuine passion for serving those impacted by cancer and a strong vision for CSCNT’s future. As one of our senior executives, he has played a key role in our strategic planning for our continued growth. I have complete confidence that Chad’s exciting vision and energy will lead CSCNT forward and expand our impact throughout North Texas and beyond.
And, I want to thank all of you. For trusting CSCNT during some of the most difficult moments of your lives, for sharing your stories, your courage, your fears, your victories, and your hope. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey. You have taught me so much about strength, resilience, compassion, hope and community – what a tremendous gift this has been!
Now I very much look forward to enjoying my run up to retirement, to still spending time in the clubhouse, to seeing you all, and to getting ready for my next adventure that starts at the end of December. I feel so grateful to have shared this incredible and wonderful journey with you!
