Longtime breast cancer survivor Janet Moll had a meaningful conversation at our Dallas Clubhouse with a young woman who was going through treatment for the same diagnosis.
“I’m going to cry thinking about it, but the woman said she hopes to one day be able to say she’s a survivor for over 20 years like me,” says Janet, a regular supporter of Cancer Support Community North Texas with her husband Dave Ashworth, our Board Chair. “I hugged her and said I hope that’s true for her. It was very emotional, particularly since I knew exactly where she was coming from.”
Janet knows how vital it is to have the mental health and social support services CSCNT provides and encourages anyone she knows with cancer and their families to seek out our organization. That’s why her husband Dave and she decided to become Changemakers, our monthly giving community.
“We’ve always given to CSCNT annually, and it’s part of our estate plan, but we hear more and more from charities that it helps to have monthly contributions they can count on when budgeting,” Janet says. “Giving in multiple ways helps support the mission and critical services we believe in. It ensures participants don’t have to worry about paying for CSCNT support programs when cancer treatment is already a big financial burden.”
Because supporting CSCNT is important to Janet and Dave, they have seen their example have a ripple effect on friends and family in their lives, who also decided to give financially to CSCNT.
