One Run 2016 Press Release

Cancer Support Community North Texas Announces 6th Annual 5K “One Run” DALLAS, TX (July 26, 2016) — On Saturday, September 24, 2016, walkers and runners from across the DFW area can support many cancers by participating in a single run – the 6th Annual Cancer Support Community North Texas (CSCNT) “One Run.” The colorful 5k run/walk, which this year will be co-chaired by Andrews Kurth attorneys and long-time supporters Chrissy Williford and Crystal Jamison Woods, aims to unite all cancer diagnoses as well as survivors and their caregivers, through a single, awe-inspiring display of color as race participants represent their personal cancer color. Honorary chairs will be Kidd Kraddick Morning Show’s Big Al Mack and former NBC-5 Anchor Deanna Dewberry, who is also a three-time cancer survivor. “Every year, thousands of people are diagnosed with cancer – and even more are surviving,” says CSCNT CEO Mirchelle Louis, “One Run reminds us to celebrate survivorship and the vital role social and emotional cancer support plays in so many lives – we are committed to ensuring no one in North Texas faces cancer alone.” The run, a public event supported by Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Andrews Kurth and media sponsors KISS-FM, Kidd Kraddick Morning Show and NBC-5, will begin at 7 a.m. at Reverchon Park. The event will feature an inspirational flag display representing the various cancer diagnoses North Texans are living with today. The run/walk will follow, and a spirited celebration will take place post-race. All proceeds go toward the free support programs CSCNT provides – from networking and support groups to yoga and meditation workshops to children’s programs and educational presentations. One Run registration is available at through September 23rd. Opportunities to donate are also available on the website. Registration on September 24th begins on site at 7 a.m., followed by the walk at 8 a.m. and the run at 8:30 a.m. Free food and entertainment in the park follow, featuring goodies from vendors such as In-N-Out Burger, Torchy’s Tacos and Crisp Salad, and lively music from the band Party Machine. The event is followed by an after-party at the Katy Trail Ice House.
