“Ready to play dominoes?” If you’re around the clubhouse on a Monday evening, this is the most important question of the night! Dedicated volunteers Cathy Susie and Heather Barthlow have been playing dominoes with members since 2012, and they have even roped a new recruit, Whitney Hanlon, into the fun! The game is the same every week, but it’s not the score that’s important. The friendships that have been formed over this year have seen every member at the table through ups and downs, happiness and heartache, and even a clubhouse move! “I know we’ve finished our volunteer hours, but can we come in and play dominoes with the guys? We miss them!” asked Heather as soon as CSC reopened in April after relocating. Relationships are at the core of CSC’s mission, and we know the benefits those special connections bring to our members, volunteers, and staff. Did you know?
- The estimated value of volunteer time for 2012 is $22.14 per hour.
- Volunteers at CSC contribute over 3,000 hours of service each year.
- CSC is the 3rd largest volunteer placement for the Junior League of Dallas.
Here we grow…again! We are excited to announce that CSC-NT has opened another satellite office at Texas Health Harris MethodistHospital Alliance, which is located at Golden Triangle Blvd. and I-35W in Ft. Worth, Texas. The new Tarrant County clubhouse is open Monday-Friday, 9 am – 5 pm. With the opening of the new clubhouse, also comes the welcoming of the new Tarrant County Program Manager, Cynthia (Cyndy) Cervantes. Cyndy comes to CSC-NT from the field of foster care services, and most recently was the Director of Social Services for a large foster care agency. She is no stranger to CSC-NT, as she completed an internship back in 2009. Come visit the Tarrant County clubhouse and give her a warm welcome! [caption id="attachment_1394" align="alignleft" width="150"] Cyndy Cervantes[/caption] CSC’s same comprehensive program of support for persons impacted by cancer will be offered at the Tarrant County location, including support groups, educational presentations, wellness workshops, and social activities. We have officially moved into our new (temporary) space on the campus of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. While not everything has found a home yet, we have made tremendous progress in just two short weeks. Our group rooms are set up and regular activities have begun. Please note that while our physical address is listed as 8194 Walnut Hill this will not bring you directly to our building. Please use location on Google maps for driving directions or use the map found here. As always we are here to help you so please call 214-345-8230 (our new Dallas phone #) or email us. Here are a few pics of our new location. We are all enjoying the beautiful creek area behind the building and hope our members will also.
